Our 2020 Year in review

The year 2020 has been very eventful for us at The Daily Movement. We have grown so much, and it is all thanks to your community.

First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to our growth — both as a fitness and wellness provider and as a thriving community. The Daily Movement was founded under Covid-19 conditions during Singapore’s circuit breaker, and with the dedication of our team and unwavering support from the community, we have grown to more than 280 combined members in our communication channels, with a presence of 710 followers on Facebook and 470 followers on Instagram.

We started with virtual classes but as conditions shifted after the Circuit Breaker, we adapted and transitioned to live classes. However, our goal still remains unchanged since day one — to give back and to build a resilient, active and supportive community. The way we operate and conduct classes has changed over the course of the year but we still believe in providing inclusive, sustainable and affordable fitness and wellness offerings to anyone and everyone. Are you keen to learn more about our jouney in 2020? Swipe left!

Virtual Workouts during Circuit Breaker

We started our journey by conducting contribution based virtual classes and workshops during the Circuit Breaker period! We had people from all walks of life joining us for our almost daily workouts from the comforts of their screens. We even held special virtual events such as the “At-Home MURPH” on 25th May 2020, and Disco Drench with Ethan on 6th June 2020, just to name a few. In the span of two months, we started to grow a community of like-minded individuals.

Fitness with a cause

One core aim for The Daily Movement was to raise funds for vulnerable communities during the Circuit Breaker and beyond. We conducted class or day specific fundraisers; with our first being a fundraiser for AWARE Singapore that raised $1,500 for the Vulnerable’s Women’s Fund. Subsequently, we raised more than $2,500 for HOME.org, an organization that supports and advocates for migrant worker rights. We could never have achieved this without our community!

Engaging our community post circuit-breaker

After the Circuit Breaker, we engaged our community and listened to feedback, and ultimately decided to transition to live classes while having virtual classes occasionally. We conducted a few trial classes with our members before officially launching outdoor bootcamps and thereafter, other classes as well. It was refreshing getting to exercise and interact face-to-face with our members who we only saw and knew through our screens.

Moving Outdoors: Our weekly bootcamps

We officially launched our outdoor bootcamps on the 11th of October 2020 at Clementi Active SG. From then on, our bootcamps are conducted weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays in the West-side of Singapore, at Clementi Active SG and Sunset Way Fitness Area. Our bootcamps are a great way for members to sweat it out, have fun, and encourage and learn from one another! At the start of each session, our instructors will demonstrate the exercises involved and do a warm up, before starting the workout proper. Each session is made and scaled for members of all fitness levels! Our team is here to ensure that your form is correct, and you’ll get to experience a fun and enjoyable time — while working towards your fitness goals!

Moving Indoors: Trial studio classes at Terra

After launching outdoor bootcamps as our key offering, we wanted to try classes in an indoor studio setting. We partnered with Terra at The Common Ground for two days of trial studios classes — which included a plethora of fitness activities including Yoga with Polly, Functional Training and HIIT classes with Nigel and Miku. This was also a good way to reach out to more members in our community and the public, as well as gauge the demand for in-studio classes! We had a successful event with all slots filled up, and everyone showing up for a sweaty, fun-filled two days with our team! We will continue to refine our programme and monitor the demand for regular in-studio classes, before finalising it as an additional offering.

Streamlining our booking process: partnering with Vibefam

When the excitement settled, we went back to the drawing block and wanted a better, more efficient system to book and manage classes. By now, we have already set camp in the West-side of Singapore. Thus, we partnered with a studio management provider, Vibefam. With a click of a button, members are able to purchase drop-ins and packages! However, we retained our google sign-up sheet as a means for members and the public to sign up for free trials. In the coming months, we are looking to serve you better by continuing to streamline the process of booking and managing classes.

Looking forward to 2021

With 2020 in the books, us at The Daily Movement look forward to 2021. We are constantly learning and evolving as conditions change. As of now, we are aiming to grow our community, continue our weekly outdoor bootcamps as our key offering, and possibly transition to an all-in-one fitness and wellness platform for our community and the public. This is still a “work-in-progress” so please do support or guide us in our endeavours! To learn more about us, do head over to our website or join our communication channels on Telegram or Whatsapp. You can also reach out to us on social media!

We are still a very fresh and eager team and ideally, would love to conduct more events and fundraisers on a virtual or physical sphere. We are open to hear or discuss any proposals, collaborations and partnerships so if an opportunity arises, do let us know! Thank you for being part of The Daily Movement and we will continue striving for inclusive, sustainable and affordable fitness and wellness services for anyone and everyone. We hope 2021 will be a brighter, more fruitful year for us and for you, and once again — thank you so much for being part of the TDM journey. See you in our next class!
